Why You Should Quit Vaping This Year
Research shows that vaping, like smoking, harms your blood flow—even if the vape doesn’t have nicotine.
A study by the Radiological Society of North America found that vaping reduces oxygen levels in the blood, making it harder for your lungs to function properly. This effect happens whether or not nicotine is involved.
The study examined 31 smokers and vapers aged 21 to 49 and compared their brain scans to 10 non-smokers. After vaping or smoking, participants showed reduced oxygen in their blood, similar to cigarette users.
Dr. Marianne Nabbout, who led the research, explained that chemicals in e-cigarettes—not just nicotine—can be harmful. "People think vaping is safer, but that’s not true," she said.
Dr. Albert Rizzo from the American Lung Association added that vaping ingredients may cause lung and body inflammation. "We still don’t fully know the long-term effects, but the short-term harm is clear," he said.
The takeaway? Vaping isn’t as safe as many think, and quitting could be one of the best choices for your health this year.
